The track season continues this summer.
Beginning on Tuesday, July 15, MileSplit RI and the Cumberland Recreation Department will conduct a series of All-Comer Track Meets at Cumberland High’s Tucker Field facility on Mendon Road. The meets will take place every Tuesday night from 6 -8 p.m., for four consecutive weeks. Additional meets will be held on July 22, July 29 and Aug. 5.
The Summer All-Comer Meets are open to youths to adults of all ages and abilities and will include nine events – 100/200m (alt. weeks), 400m, 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, 4x400m relay, hammer, shot put and long jump.
For middle- and high-school athletes, these meets are a great way to keep sharp throughout the summer months. The meets were also created to give the open athletes a chance to match their talents against other athletes in their age category.
Ribbons are awarded to the top three finishers in six different age categories (Under 10, 11-14, 15-17, 18-39, 40-49, 50-plus). The cost is just $2 (age 10 and under, $3 (age 11-17) and $4 (age 18 and over).
