At the 47th annual Arnold Mills road race in Cumberland, RI two was the magic number. Bobby Hartnett won his second title, Hilary Dionne won her second title in a row, and two time race winner Jim Dandeneau was providing commentary on the race video.
Hartnett broke the tape in 20:06 followed by Ben Fazio, who was wearing the Level Renner singlet, in 20:38. Tried tracking down a pic of Fazio in action with the singlet but we’ve been unsuccessful so far.
For the women, it was Hilary Dionne winning her hometown race again. From Steve Mazzone’s coverage on MileSplit:
“For the second straight year, Cumberland alumni Hilary Dionne was the first across the line in her hometown race, placing 20th overall in the field of 594 runners.. The 27-year-old Dionne, one of the country’s top marathoners, finished with a new course record of 22:03. She was almost two minutes ahead of second-place finisher, Kyle McQueen-Feldman of Cumberland (24th, 23:56).”
Dionne was missing the golden BAA colors that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing her winning in. Instead she was sporting a plain singlet, so perhaps she has some concept of a new racing team in mind? No matter what team she’s running for, she’s still performing at a high level. Kyle Feldman is a Skechers runner and pretty good herself, and there was a decent gap between the two.
