Rop Wins Another Hot One in Newburyport

Glarius Rop won the Level Renner 10k back on July 19th, running away with the win in oppressive heat & humidity. Glarius ran a 31:15 that day and said he was just getting back into form after dealing with some lower leg issues. Fast forward to the end of July and Glarius was back at it again, in the heat, but this time the 10 mile race at the Yankee Homecoming in Newburyport.

As you can see from this super sweet slo-mo video by aroundnbpt, Glarius had some company:

Not entirely sure at what point that video was captured, but eventually the field was whittled down to two contenders. It all came down to Rop and Menoistu Nebsi and it was close, as is evident by this great shot from Devan Delacey:

Rop would end up pulling ahead and breaking the tape. The results for those first four men ended up being…

Glarius Rop (51:13)
Menoistu Nebsi (51:15)
Abu Kebede Diriba (51:25)
Eric McDonald (52:31)

For the ladies…

Well, unfortunately we haven’t come across anything showing any of the lead women from neither the 10 mile nor the 5k races. Fortunately though, there’s Sarah Bard

Not the same as a cool slo-mo video, but at least she was feeding us some results. And we should also congratulate her too…

So the top women’s results were…

Laura Paulsen – 59:36
Katie Misuraca – 59:35
Meagan Nedlo – 61:45

Top masters runners were Joe Navas (57:27) and Regina Loiacano (1:05:46).

In the 5k race, Pat Fullerton (15:37) and Dierdre Martyn (18:43) both won fairly easily.
