ATR Series Expecting to Heat Up at GBTC Invite

The latest USATF-NE All Terrain Runner Series standings came out earlier this week and the early results are thin. As of now, there are only 6 men and 3 women who have submitted times. Well, we’ve heard there may be some people sitting on some times to see how things shake out before submitting (a little gamesmanship there?), and also heard of others having trouble finding official results from races they ran. The point is, more results are on the way and we could see the first big wave of them coming tomorrow.

Yes, the blizzard missed us (for the most part), so the GBTC Invitational is a go. While there will be some fast times thrown down (especially in the invitational sections of the 800m and mile), a lot of attention will undoubtedly be on the 3,000. Sure there’s an invitational section there too, but since the ATR Series is using 3,000m as its indoor track event in 2016 there will be quite a few people there either getting their first crack as series points or even trying to improve on an earlier time.

The current leaders are Colin Carroll (CMS, 8:50.52) and Heather Mahoney (Whirlaway, 10:17.67). Heather is entered for tomorrow and will be trying to widen her lead. However, Amber Ferreira will be running too and Amber has a title on her mind. The former national snowshoe champion (and current professional triathlete) will be looking to start off her ATR adventure with some big points. The snowshoe portion is approaching fast and she has to be the early favorite there.

For the men there are 69 names entered and it’s wide open. Part of the excitement is you don’t know exactly who’s in the series so you can’t let anyone by you.
