Hillery Clan Conquers the Hill

The speedy Hillerys won the Conquer the Hill road race in Smithfield, RI back on June 11th. The relatively new, unique event is a short .7ish miles long, but over that distance you climb 170 or so feet. Maybe it’s not quite a mini-Mt Washington, but as in the famous Rockpile race this one starts out with a short, gentle downward slope (about a tenth of a mile) before ramping up.

23 year old Kieran Hillery was the overall victor in 4:43.1, while his mother Trish Hillery was the first woman to conquer said Hill in 5:31.8.

Here’s a shot of the victorious Hillery clan:

Level contributor Tom Bowater had a pretty good showing himself. Tom ran a 5:04.8 to place 6th overall. But what’s perhaps most impressive is his daughter Kaylee’s form. Just look at the way she attacked that hill!

And as the proud papa said, she was second in her age group (and 25th overall) with a 7:18.9. Nice shot of father/daughter here, especially the singlets:

Haylee’s race certainly is deserving of her own Level singlet. But as a Smithfield alum I gotta say I like the Sentinels logo she’s sporting too. For full results on the race, click here.
