Nedlo Wins Trail Debut on Short Rest

Meagan Nedlo won the 10k trail race at the Greenbelt Run for the Hills back on Saturday July 12th. This was only hours after she won the Miles Over the Moon on Friday night in Salem, MA. This was only hours after we interviewed her for the night race win. Now we had to interview her again? Damn, she’s going to get sick of us.

Luckily she wasn’t all Level’d out yet:

Meagan was making her trail race debut and she looked right at home off the roads. Nedlo finished 9th overall and about a minute ahead of her superstar training partner Sarah Bard (who was also making her trail debut). The clock read 41:05 for Nedlo to Bard’s 42:08. Both were ahead of trail running stalwart Emma Kosciak (17th overall in 43:21), but a wrong turn through Emma off and ultimately out of contention.

In the 5k, it was newcomer Larissa Park getting the win. Park ran a 20:58 and finished 3rd overall, far ahead of her nearest competition.

It was good seeing so many new faces out on the trails and hopefully it’s a sign of things to come. With Nedlo’s new training philosophy, she’ll most likely be opting to do trail races over an easy shake out run on the roads. Just don’t tell Jordan.

This was the 4th of the 9 races that make up the NE Running Co North Shore Trail Race Series. The next one will be the Greenbelt Beverly Commons 7.3 Mile Train Run on Saturday August 23rd.
