Intending to use last night’s Good Times Beer Time 5k* as a replacement hard tempo effort for a missed workout, Whirlaway stud Ruben Sanca wound up nipping Casey Moulton‘s Good Times Course Record last night. His 14’47.70 was enough to put him atop all performances ever seen in the 12 year history of the race. Yesterday’s race was also the fastest Good Times of the summer, as three broke 16 minutes, and another three snuck under 17. Team Run placed the 2nd through 5th spots with Peter Omae, Ethan Brown, Steve O’Brien, and Steve Gendron (his first race in orange) all crossing the line between 15’40” and 16’20”. On the women’s side, Kara Haas recovered well from a third place master’s finish at Falmouth as she was able to take down 15 year old Rylee Gillen (Team Run Youth) by a mere second to win it in 18’39” over Gillen’s 18’40”. Interview of the new course record holder to come. Stay tuned!
*Note on the theme: All male participants under 22 minutes and all female participants under 24’30” received a coupon for a free beer (or soda if under 21) at Dudley’s Pub after the race. Now there’s something to shoot for!
