New England Championships on Sunday

A few things to know ahead of this Sunday’s cross country race at Franklin Park…

10:00 – Men’s Masters 8k
10:50 – Women’s Open & Masters 6k
11:30 – Men’s Open 10k

Last year Eric Ashe and Jillian King took the open crowns while Sandu Rebenciuc and Diana Bowser nabbed themselves a masters title. Who will win it all this year?

David Wilson and Caroline Martin are the two points leaders in the season series so they will be ones to look out for. Justin Renz and Dana Parrot are leading the masters circuit, but will they be able to hold it? Whether your an open or masters runner, you can expect the competition to be ratcheted up a notch or two.

Not only is it the next race in the XC Grand Prix Series but it’s also the decisive event in the All Terrain Runner Series. Road warrior Nate Jenkins has proven to be quite the beast off pavement too as he has control over the series. Last year Nate finished 5th at New England’s (the first non-BAA finisher), so it’ll be good to see how Nate stacks up again this year. For the ladies it’s the ageless Christin Doneski who is in the driver’s seat. As a masters runner she’s showing the young uns that age won’t keep you from dominating across the board. Christin didn’t run NE’s last year, we’ll see how she does on Sunday.

The back room at Doyle’s has been reserved for all of us hungry & thirsty runners from 12-3. The ATR series awards will be presented there as you all hydrate and recover.

For more info, check out the USATF-NE race entry form that has all the details.
