USATF-NE Awards

The USATF-NE held its annual awards banquet on Saturday night. Online voting was held leading up to the banquet which allowed current members to vote for who they thought was most deserving in a couple of different categories.
The Central Mass Striders were arguably the biggest winners of the night as they took home Club of the Year and saw one of their own take home Runner of the Year. Here is the full list of winners, per the results of the voting:

Glen Stewart, Baystate Marathon, as Race Director of the Year 2014

Note: pictured to the right is USATFNE Managing Director Steve Vaitones and SRR’s Emer O’Donoghue. Emer participated in all three series: Ironrunner of the 2014 Road Race Grand Prix, Mountain Goat of the Mountain Series and as an All Terrain Runner last year.

While we’re on the topic of USATF-NE, here’s a press release regarding their Athlete of the Month for December 2015:

The Boston Athletic Association women’s cross country team has been named USA Track & Field New England (USATF-NE) Athlete of the month for December 2014. At the USA Track & Field Club Cross Country Championships on December 13 at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, the B.A.A. team of Sarah Pagano, Juliet Botorff, Elaina Balouris, Jen Rhines and Emily Lipari finished first in a field of 38 teams. Pagano, who lead the way with a 6th place finish in 19:41 over the 6K course, won the USATF-NE Cross Country Championship this past November. Rhines, who finished in 19th place, is a three-time U.S. Olympian, and was the masters winner at the New England cross country championships. (Photo Credit: Mike McGrane, BAA).
