The Vermont City Marathon unveiled their elite/invited runners earlier this week, and we got tipped off to a couple of late editions: Erica Jesseman and Heidi Westover.
Heidi comes in with resume highlights such as: Olympic Trials 2008 and 2012- 28th and 15th place, USA World Half Marathon Team 2009 and 2010, 16:15 5km PR, 33:15 10km PR, 4:34 Mile PR
Heidi’s marathon PR is a 2:35:02 from the ’09 VCM, and after taking some time off after the birth of her son in January of 2015 it’s looking like Heidi is back to contender status!
Jesseman, with her PR of 2:35, is a two time defending Hartford Marathon champ so perhaps it’s only fitting that she’s finally lining up in Vermont to perhaps complete her own personal New England double? Other highlights of Erica’s: Beach to Beacon Maine Divisional 2015 and 10th place female (34:52); 2012 and 2016 Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier; New Bedford 2016 Female winner 1:14:43.
In case you missed it, the rest of the elite crowd is…
Questions we have going into this: Can Matt Pelletier get his 6th win here? Can Westover take a shot at the course record, which she currently holds? Can Elizabeth Ryan bounce back quickly enough from her strong effort at Boston? Just what can we expect of Glarius Rop in his much anticipated marathon debut?
You’ll be hearing much more on the race and many of the elites as we build up to Memorial Day weekend. Still plenty of time for you to register!
